When I began this podcast, I had two goals in mind: to educate on transgender topics and to tell personal stories of life experiences. This episode is one such story: my own.
In the first of a three part series, I detail the story of my gender confirmation surgery. GCS is not something all trans* individuals undergo or even want. It's a personal decision. I reached a point in my life after my transition where I saw no other alternative than to seek surgery. Once I made that decision, it became a question of how I was going to do it. Thus began my journey to find the means of getting the surgery. But life doesn't always work out how we expect. What started as a private struggle became an urgent necessity following a health scare. Suddenly, the plan changed and what was once a distant dream was swiftly becoming a reality. On Christmas Day, 2013, that's when I knew it was real.
Trigger warning: This podcast contains discussions of eating disorders.
