	Description:		One of the more common questions people have for transgender individuals is whether being transgender means they are gay. Almost every trans* person has been asked this before. But there is a difference between the two concepts: one deals with one's gender identity, while the other deals with sexual attraction. While there are similarities, and the civil rights fight is cut from the same cloth, it is important to know the distinction between the two. In this episode, we define both gender identity and sexual orientation, highlighting the fundamental distinction between them. We then look at why the two are often inextricably linked. From the beginning, the two were connected until homosexuality started gaining more understanding. We then look at how sexual orientation fits into the concept of gender identity. This is one of the more challenging concepts for people to understand. But it also creates a daunting situation for trans individuals who are looking for a sexual relationship. There is still a great amount of stigma around trans individuals and the people who are attracted to them.
