First of all, let’s talk for a minute about what a ground fault is. A ground-fault occurs when there is an unintentional break in the low-resistance grounding path between a power source and a grounded surface, usually involving a tool or damaged or defective equipment no longer adequately protected from unintended contact.

The electrical current may then take an alternative path to the ground through the user, resulting in serious injuries or death.

Thats where the GFCI’s come in.
