BACKGROUND: Suriel Cigars is a partnership between longtime friends Uriel Suriel and Emilio Rodriguez. Suriel teamed with Hendrick Kelner Jr. of Kelner Boutique Factory to create the Robusto Day & Night and the Toro Majestuoso, which represent the inaugural blends for the Suriel brand.
The Day & Night has a Brazilian Cubra wrapper with a Dominican Cotuí binder. Hendrik Kelner describes the Cotuí as a “family reserve tobacco” that is grown by his sister, Monika Kelner, on her family-owned property. The cigar is rounded out with tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. This week I am featuring the 5-inch by 52 ring gauge Suriel Day & Night Robusto.
FEATURED LIBATION: Doc’s Custom Blend coffee
This blend is comprised of two different single origin coffee beans. One is from Guatemala and is called the Antigua Finca Cabrejo and the other from Ethiopia called Yirga Cheffe Dry Process – Aricha.
