Damh the Bard has been on a long but heartfelt journey this past year. A monumental project that has been waiting patiently for the right time to bring itself into being has begun. The Mabinogion are the earliest prose stories of the literature of Britain. The stories were compiled in Middle Welsh in the 12th–13th centuries from earlier oral traditions. The Mabinogion is a single work divided into in four parts, or Branches and each Branch contains several tale episodes in a sequence. Damh will be recording one album for each of the four branches and the first album, Y Mabinogi The First Branch, is being released on September 26th. The double album is done in both narrative and song, and if you want to hear more about the album and discover the process of how a modern day bard can successfully bring 12th century tales into the 21st century and remain faithful to the stories themselves and would like to hear one of the new songs, please tune in.
