“Be still, and know that I am God!” (Ps 46:11) During this festive season of Christmas, we are reminded that it is in the stillness and quiet of our hearts that we are truly able to reflect on the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and to receive the lessons God is communicating to us in this joyous occasion.
In this podcast, Msgr. Fred Dolan reflects on the Nativity of the Lord and explains the mission we receive in this story; discusses the virtue of hope as exemplified by our Lady; and, encourages us to be open to people of all backgrounds and to discover the good in each person. As we reflect upon the Nativity story, we pray that our faith may be renewed and that we may find joy in life despite the circumstances that may surround us.
“Christmas time. You write: ‘Together with the holy expectation of Mary and Joseph, I also impatiently await the Child. How happy I shall feel at Bethlehem! I have a feeling that I won’t be able to contain this joy without bounds. Yes! but, with Him, I also want to be born anew.’ —I hope you really mean what you say!” (Furrow, no. 62)
