There’s nothing inherently wrong with stress. In some sense, it’s always been with us. Life itself is an adaptation to stress. This doesn’t mean that the purpose of life is stress. Stress is simply a condition. One to which all living things must have some relationship. People pay money to go to the movies and follow a story until they become so immersed in the circumstances that they have a stress response to the action. It’s big business. So since stress is not the main problem people have, in and of itself, what is it about stress that is so detrimental to our health and happiness?
