This week on Short Story Long I have one of the NBA's most respected veterans and now author Caron Butler.  Growing up in Wisconsin, Caron had some very tough obstacles early in his life.  At the age of 11 he became a drug dealer and was arrested 15 times before he had even turned 15 years old.  It wasn't until he spent time in a detention center that he realized the life he was living was going to lead him to more jail time or even getting killed.  Turning to the bible and god, he saw the basketball court at his detention center as a sign and started taking the game seriously.  Once released he turned his life around playing AAU ball and noticing that he could make a career out of basketball if he just stuck to it.  From high school he was offered a scholarship to play for UCONN and was named co-Big East Player of the year as a sophomore.  Drafted by the Miami Heat in 2002, Caron has had an incredible career with stories to go along with it.  Amidst all of his success, Caron has stayed humble and grounded and has gave back to his community and the players that he's been with.  In 2015, he released Tuff Juice: My Journey from the Streets to the NBA.  Listen to episode 38 for Caron's amazing story.
