 GANG, holy moly. Can you believe 2020 is almost behind us…!? But as excited as I am that 2021 is now moments away, with it comes the darkest and coldest time of the year. I know for many of us, January and February are two of the hardest running months of the year. From lack of sunshine to cold, wet, and icy conditions, winter is TOUGH. But we’re tougher!!! The Winter Series was created with you, laying in bed (probably questioning your life choices as you try to convince yourself to go out for a freezing cold run) in mind. The winter series is all about three things: STRENGTH, FUN, AND COMMUNITY. That is why the virtual races/challenges we’re working towards are the mile (1600m) and the 5K! Here’s the deal, on day 1 of training, we’re taking off for a mile time trial. Now, I know for most of you, when you think about the mile, you think back to those traumatizing school days. Terrible PE uniforms. Embarrassment. Maybe punishment. Or your PE teacher yelling at you because you weren’t “trying hard enough” or your classmates standing around waiting for you to finish. (No? Just me?) I know running the mile ALL OUT is scary. I KNOW THE 5K IS SCARY! And I know that for many of you, playing with speed and spice may be BRAND NEW. But here’s the thing, this training program is about connecting with a team while we all chase our personal best. It’s about stepping outside of your comfort and just seeing what happens when you show up, give yourself your best effort, and say “Let’s see what I can do!”. Is running and chasing goals during winter easy? No. Is it a tiny bit easier when you have a plan and a team to support you? Yes. HOW DO I JOIN?

Option 2) Join the BALG Training Team (All 2021 training programs & virtual race series are free for team members)The way this training program works is that there are three levels of the exact same training program: Level 1 offers 3-5 days of running, 1 cross-training day, long run starting at 30 minutes (longest run 60-80 minutes), 1-2 rest days, 2 strength training days Level 2 offers 4-5 days of running (1-2 quality days), 1-2 cross-training day, 1-2 rest day(s), long-run starting at 40 minutes and building to 60-100 minutes, 2 strength training days Level 3 offers 4-6 days of running (2 quality days), 1-2 cross-training day, 1 complete rest day, long run starting at 80 minutes and building to 120 minutes, 2 strength training days (*Must be currently running 25-miles/40 km a week to participate in level 3) Registration for the Winter Training Program & Virtual Race Series is $175 and includes:
 A 12-week training program designed by Coach Kelly Roberts to get you prepared to run your strongest races. Access to our private Winter training program & virtual race group in our online community to connect, inspire, lean on, commiserate with, and talk all things training. An invitation to our weekly coaching zoom calls will be every Monday at 4:00 pm ET/1:00 pm PT. All zoom sessions are recorded and shared in our private Fall Training Group in the online community.)
