Description:

Sometimes it just feels good when others notice your hard work and compliment you on it. This podcast episode is all about some recognition for some fancy, well made, self sewn dresses. Mallory, Zede, and Sam went to Babylock Common Threads (June 2018), which is a meeting of brand influencers. They not only taught the Made to Measure Leggings class to all 50 attendees but they made most of their wardrobe items for the three day conference. Including some fancy schmancy dresses for an evening at the Opera.

Mallory shares in detail how she constructed her beautiful sheer shirt dress from black embroidered mesh fabric with the most striking flowers running up and down it. She talks about where she sourced her fabric, how she stabilized and finished the collar, stand, cuffs, and button holes, how she dealt with the bulky seams of the embroidered mesh flowers, and so many other wonderful techniques she used to create a dress that was once just a vision. She finished her look with a complimentary bra- yes she wore lingerie as outwear and totally rocked it and a pair of M2M leggings to complete her outfit.

Mallory wasn’t the only one with an amazing self-sewn (err Zede sewn, Sam did the easy seams) dress at the Opera. That’s right Zede was volunteered to make Sam a dress. With just some fabric, a few days, and the little bit of info that Sam gave her (which was basically that Sam wanted a fancy dress), Zede put her rotary cutting skills to the mat and whipped out two dresses for Sam. A form fitting wine colored modified EasyT dress and a gored black lace overlay dress. Both turned out exceptional. And you know Zede used her favorite three thread narrow serger stitch to construct these, and of course the dresses stayed together.

We hope you are feeling free to compliment Mallory and Zede on their hard work and gorgeous dresses. We welcome you to share your sewing makes so we can compliment you as well.

Affiliate Links and the Future of SewHere

Mallory and Zede want to make more awesome sewing media for you. More entertaining and informative podcasts, more instructional videos, more online classes, and more time spent socializing and answering your questions on social media. Doesn’t that sound sweet? We think so too. To free up the much needed time to accomplish this, they have decided to use affiliate links instead of fulfilling and shipping orders themselves to make sure you get the amazing sewing products you need and deserve.

They will still sell the SewHere boxes and other hard to find sewing tools and of course have some fun swag for you too, so don’t worry. But next time you need thread or pattern paper (#teamtrace all the way) we may share an affiliate link for a recommended product, this gets you sewing stuff you need/want fast and still supports us at SewHere.
