पिछले दशक में बॉलीवुड से कई फिल्में निकलकर आईं, जिनमें हीरो नहीं बल्कि हीरोइन का दबदबा देखने को मिला. लेकिन 60-70 के दशक में तमाम लोगों के दिलों की धड़कन नरगिस को भारतीय सिनेमा की पहली ऐसी अदाकारा कहा जा सकता है, जिन्होंने फिल्मों में नारी की मौजूदगी को बहुत ऊंचाइयों पर ला कर खड़ा कर दिया था.  

In the last decade, many films came out of Bollywood, in which the influence of heroine was seen, not the hero. But Nargis, the heartbeat of many people in the 60s-70s, can be said to be the first such actress in Indian cinema, who brought the presence of women in films to great heights.
