Have you ever felt chronically fatigued or had a foggy brain? If you answered yes, this might be a result of inflammation. Since inflammation is all the hype these days, here is a quick definition of inflammation: Not all inflammation is bad. Here is the kind of inflammation we are talking about - the kind that starts in our digestive system. When toxins get into our gut lining, it is damaged by toxins and creates little tears that allow for toxins to get past that lining and our immune system to cause swelling in response to toxins. The dictionary definition of inflammation is "a localized physical condition in which part of the body becomes reddened, swollen, hot, and often painful, especially as a reaction to injury or infection." Here are top three leading causes of inflammation according to almighty Michelle and her new Book research: 1.Gluten: Scheisse, we knew it. Why does it always have to be the good stuff? We have all heard “gluten free this” and “gluten free that” but do we really know that the heck gluten is and why is it so inflammatory? Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, barley, and rye and it triggers hormones to open the leaky gut situation. This leads to inflammation. It can also lead to damaged thyroid function which leads to fatigue. Think you are eating gluten - free foods when they are labeled gluten - free, think again. If you haven't heard this podcast yet Big Fat Food Fraud, what the food hustler Jeff C shared with me about marketing and food labeling blew my mind. Sister, I am not saying toss all bread in the trash, all I am saying is that this is worth paying attention too. If you feel bloated, constipated and constantly fatigued, kick it to the curb for about two weeks and see how you feel. 2.Dairy: Dairy can also contribute to inflammation in a similar manner to that of gluten, especially considering all the additives that are in our food now a days. I have given up dairy years ago after a podcast interview with FDA food regulations specialist. I've talked about this endlessly, so you probably already know I just stay away. No need to feel like I am five months pregnant. No cheese is worth that for me. Again, if you are constantly bloated after eating dairy, kick it for two weeks and see what happens. 3.Sugar: How does cause inflammation if your body isn’t processing glucose and carbohydrates. The poorer regulation the more likely to experience this negative effect of sugar in the body.
