On today's episode I'm honored to chat with Melissa Killeen, an addiction recovery coach that approaches coaching a person in recovery like a business executive coach would coach a CEO of a high performing company.
Melissa has more than 25 years experience in personal recovery as well as 35 years as a small business owner and leader.
Melissa is the author of the first book on addiction recovery coaching, Recovery Coaching – A Guide to Coaching People in Recovery from Addiction.
She has received her Master’s Degree in Executive Coaching and a Master’s of Philosophy in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Melissa is the past president of Recovery Coaches International, and in 2015, she received the Vernon Johnson Award from Faces and Voices of Recovery for her recovery coaching work.
With her many years of personal recovery, she realized when studying at Penn, the impact recovery coaching would have for those in the rooms struggling with sobriety. She lives outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Recovery Innovators Radio show is to here to help you turn your addiction recovery challenges and failures into successes and freedom from everything that’s keeping you from living the life you deserve.
I check in with innovative experts and individuals in the recovery industry, related fields or just “regular folks” who have had some incredible experiences so we can hear directly from them what is working today for addicts in recovery, for their families and their friends.
I also want this to be a learning tool for professionals in the recovery field, a place where ideas can be nurtured and spread, where networking and education can help addiction treatment become more effective all the time.
It's estimated that 53 million American's are touched by addiction. It is rare if you have not been personally affected by this disease.
So, even if you are not the addict, maybe it's your son or daughter, or Mom or Dad, or sister, brother, cousin, uncle, aunt, co-worker, boss, neighbor, whoever. This disease is impacting you somehow, making your life a little less than what you would like it to be if you could wave a magic wand and create your dream world.
I want these cutting edge ideas to be available to those who need help, those who often cannot afford to access the professional help they need.
My mission here is to do so much good for the recovery community that I have a positive effect on addiction. I want to help hundreds, if not thousands of addicts (maybe millions someday) to be healthy, sober and free, really enjoying their life in sobriety.
Thanks for listening! James Healy |
