Description: The real issue with the repeal or reform of the Affordable Care Act is access to care. Who will be able to afford insurance? What will insurance cover? Will it still cover mental health and addiction treatment? Will young people have access? Will addiction in and of itself be classified as a type of pre-existing condition (and thus, a potential disqualifier for health coverage under “TrumpCare”)? What about the soaring prices of drugs in this nation? It is very unclear what Trump’s healthcare plan will be, but many fear that we will see huge increases in opioid deaths. and a dramatic decrease in addiction recovery resources and support. All things that will have an impact on access to care and effective addiction treatment.
