Cherry and almond florentines
These are so easy to make, you can produce something at least as good as the ones you find in the shops.
This makes 10 large florentines
Ingredients
55 g golden syrup
55 g butter
55 g soft brown sugar
55 g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
90 g chopped glace cherries
55 g flaked almonds
200 g chocolate
Heat your oven to 180ºC, 350ºF, Gas 4
Grease and line 2 baking trays with silicone paper
Melt the syrup, butter and sugar in a pan on a low heat
When melted, stir in the flour and almond extract, mixing well
Use a dessert spoon and a teaspoon to put mounds of 2/3 dessertspoon onto the silicone paper and give a good space between each one
Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until they are golden in colour and spread out
Cool on the paper for 20 minutes then transfer to a cold baking sheet or large plates
Melt the chocolate and spread over the flat side of the florentine and allow to set. |
