Possibly the best lager in the world! (Oops, trifle)
You will need:
Make a simple sponge - 100g butter, 100g sugar, 100 g flour, mix and bake until golden.
Break up into the trifle dish.
300 g can of strawberries or raspberries in their own juice (not syrup)
5 tbsp pale sherry.
Pour some of the juice from the fruit and the sherry. Lay the fruit on top.
Make the custard powder with
2 tbsp custard powder, 500 ml can evaporated milk made up to 500 ml with milk and 1 tbsp soft brown sugar.
Cover the custard with cling film to avoid getting a skin.
Once the custard is cold layer on the top.
2 tins of sterilized cream, spread over the custard - or 350 ml double cream and whisk until it firms up.
Dress with chocolate and glace cherries. |
