This is a really special sauce, well worth the effort of making it.
Ingredients
250 g chopped dried prunes
1 large onion fnely chopped
4 large apples (Granny Smith if you can get them)
375 g brown sugar
900 ml real malt vinegar
50 g salt
1 Tsp. ginger powder
1/2 Tsp. Allspice
1/3 Tsp. Cayenne
1/4 Nutmeg
Instructions
Core and chop the apples - keep the skins
Chop the prunes
Add all the ingredients to a large pan and bring to the boil
Simmer for 30 - 40 minutes
Blend the sauce as fine as you like
If it is too runny, you can place on the cooker annd reduce a little further
Sterilize your bottles
Bottle and allow to cool |
