Marzipan
In this podcast we start out in morse code!
Homemade marzipan is a simple enough thing to make - and if you are using it on a homemade cake, you might as well go the whole hog and do the lot yourself.
You will need
200 g (7 oz) icing sugar
350 g (12 oz) ground almonds
150 g (5 oz) caster sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons of almond extract
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 beaten egg
Mix together the almonds and sugars
Combine the lemon juice and almond extract
Mix the two together
Mix in, a small amount at a time, the beaten egg and work into a paste |
