Apple and Date Crumble
This recipe for an apple and date crumble is unctuous and resembles sticky toffee pudding.
6 portions
Use any apples you have
2 Brambleys, 2 Granny Smith (or equivalents)
200 g plain flour
80 g porridge oats
12 ready to eat dates
130 g butter
150 g dark brown sugar
Lemonjuice
Nutmeg
Put the flour, oats, dates and butter into a food processor, and pour into a bowl, and stir in the dark brown sugar.
Peel and core the apples, put them chopped into a bowl with some lemon juice.
Preheat the oven to 170ºC, 325ºF, Gas 3
Butter an oven proof dish.
Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of any sugar over the apples and 2 tablespoons of plain flour to thicken, a good grating of nutmeg and mix together.
Put the mixture on the bottom and press the topping down to your design.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. |
