Curtis: Hey everybody, it's Curtis from Real English Conversations. And today we're going to talk all about different types of surgeries. And for the Real English tip we're going to give you some useful expressions on what to say when you're visiting somebody in the hospital or who is sick.
Amy: Hey guys, it's Amy and I'm here with Curtis from Real English Conversations. And today we're going to be talking about the different types of surgery that people have.
Curtis: Yeah.
Amy: So there's two different types of reasons why people have surgery.
Curtis: Yes. There's people who require it.
Amy: Like it's medical related.
Curtis: Yeah. Let's say for example...
Amy: Like you have to have it.
Curtis: Yeah, in...in an accident situation, say you have to get surgery on your leg because you slipped and fell and mangled1 up your leg.
Amy: You have to get it put back together and it needs to be done by surgery. Yeah.
Curtis: Yeah.
Amy: Versus something that is cosmetic, a cosmetic surgery or something that is done for vanity2.
Curtis: Yes. Yeah, so you...maybe you want to, um, looking younger.
Amy: Or just change your appearance in some way. But it's not necessary.
Curtis: No. Maybe you don't like your nose.
