Welcome back to Rated LGBT Radio. Tonight Rob Watson visits with Phillip Zonkel of Q Voice News in Long Beach, CA.

Award-winning journalist Phillip Zonkel has more than 20 years of print and digital experience. The last 16 of them were spent at the Press-Telegram, a daily, metropolitan daily newspaper in Long Beach, Calif., where he covered everything from features to local governments, from education to LGBTQ issues.
He was the first reporter at the P-T to have a beat covering the city’s vibrant LGBTQ community. He created and ran the popular and innovative LGBTQ news blog, Out in the 562, which appeared on the P-T website.
He has won two awards and received a nomination for his reporting on the local LGBTQ community, including a two-part investigation that exposed anti-gay bullying of local high school students and the school districts’ failure to implement state mandated protections for LGBTQ students. |
