Mike Brace CBE DL, former Paralympian and part of the Team that brought the Olympic and Paralympic Games to London in 2012 tells RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey about meeting Queen Elizabeth II on a number of occasions and reflecting on her life too.
From early memories of her Coronation as a young boy in Hackney, during his time as Chair of the Paralympics hosting an event at Buckingham palace for the Queen to celebrate the achievements of Paralympians in the Athens Games and having to introduce the Queen to other people at the event, receiving his OBE from the Queen during the London 2012 bidding period and joking with the Queen that he would see her the following night for dinner, which he did and yes, The Queen did remember him and commented to Prince Philip that she had given Mike his OBE the day before.
