840: What Attracts People To Become Audio Describers?

Category: Government & Organizations

Description:
Audio description is a service for blind and partially sighted people, allowing them to enjoy visual performances alongside their sighted friends and family.
You'll find AD on TV, in cinemas, theatres and many arts venues and visitor attractions.
In the theatre and on screen, an audio describer will create a dialogue of what is going on physically on stage, or on set, and deliver the description, usually via headphones, in between the actors dialogue.
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Chris McKiddie, to find out why he became a describer, what he enjoys about it and what shows he'll be describing over the next month.
