The Scottish Government is in the process of taking responsibility for the administration and payment of certain social security benefits, from the Westminster Department for Work and Pensions.

The new Social Security Scotland Dept will look after a percentage of benefits including Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for Scottish claiments.

RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Cabinet Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville, who is responsible for the new department, to learn more about the transfer and how the Scottish Government has created the system with public consultation at all stages.
