The General Optical Council (GOC) is the body which oversees the standards for training, qualification and ongoing good practice for dispensing opticians and optometrists.
They are looking to make changes to their standards and are seeking the views, opinions and suggestions of members of the public, in order to maintain high standards of training and safety within the profession.
RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Leonie Milliner, GOC's Director of Education, to learn more about the organisation and how the public can help shape their working practices.
