With the cold weather making it's presence felt in the UK, many vulnerable individuals and families are finding it harder and harder to stay warm. For older people however, the Winter Fuel Allowance is a welcome payment to help with the cost of gas and electricity. With the allowance being non means tested, the vital money also goes to those who can afford to heat their homes and they cannot opt out., even if they want to. There is, however, a way for those in a better financial position to donate their payment to a charity, which distributes it, via vouchers, to fuel banks and help younger individuals and families who are struggling to choose between eating and heating.
