The Chartered Standard is achieved through following one of three routes, 1,2 & (unsurprisingly), 3. These routes have various pre-requisites and we have discussed them in previous articles. Whichever of these routes you follow, if your initial stage 1 application is successful you will need to prepare for an interview. The three routes have differing demands in this respect.

 

  • For route 1 you will need to prepare for a one-hour face to face interview that will assess your Professional Practice and Ethics. This assumes you have a Recognised Qualification for Advanced Technical Knowledge.
  • Route 2 has a half hour interview and you will be expected to present your CPD and answer questions on Ethics. This assumes you have a Recognised Qualification for both Professional Practice and Advanced Technical Knowledge.
  • Route 3 has an ‘up to’ two-hour interview that will test your Professional Practice and Advanced Technical Knowledge and Ethics.

 

There is lots of guidance in the APM’s own Applicant’s Guidance document and so it does not necessarily need repeating here, but we will draw out some key points that are significant that can be easily missed.
