In this episode, we talk with Megan Senatori, an attorney and serves as the Co-Founder and current President of Sheltering Animals of Abuse Victims (“SAAV”). SAAV was founded in 2001 as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of abuse within families in Dane County, Wisconsin. SAAV plays a unique role in the fight against abuse by recognizing the importance of animals as vital family members, and through arranging for their safe harbor at a time of critical need–when a domestic abuse victim is seeking refuge from an abuser. Megan and the team at SAAV work to find the link between domestic violence and animal abuse, and focuses on how to stop the cycle of abuse. Listen to hear her experience as an attorney and advocate for animals as vital family members in domestic abuse cases.
