She transitioned into the outplacement industry as a contract consultant to several of the big players before settling with a small, local firm in a business development role. Following the birth of her son and subsequent death of her father, she lost interest in the corporate world and took a sabbatical from work to focus on family, friends, health and personal development. Joyce says that hitting the pause button on her career extended her life expectancy, nourished her spirit and gave her the courage to strike out in a new direction.
