He won a NCAA National Championship at Clemson University in 1984 and was named the MVP of the World Collegiate Championships after saving 3 of 4 penalty shots to defeat the Mexican National Champions in 1985. He then trained at Leicester City in England and played briefly for Cheslea's second team in London. He was an successful as an assistant coach for 3 years at Clemson and won another NCAA National Championship in 1987, 8 years at the College of Charleston, 5 years with the Charleston Battery and 2 years with the Atlanta Silverbacks. While with the Charleston Battery he was a team member of the 1996 National Champions of the USISl.
