Sugar has become the centre of attention in the health and dieting world. Everybody knows now that refined sugar is bad for you and you should keep soft drinks and lollies to a minimum, and for good reason. But with this revolution against sugar a wave of myths, confusion, and misinformation have arisen. As more and more people are becoming concerned about their health they are looking to misguided and opinion based sources of information, who tell them what they want to hear. This has lead to all sugars being grouped into one category and being labelled bad. Unfortunately this tirade against sugar has lead people to believe cutting out sugar is the solution to all their problems. Replacing it with fat and protein, the real culprits. When I learnt that people weren't eating fruit because it contains sugar I had to do a podcast on it with my good friend Tara Kemp. We go deep into why sugar is key to sustainable, enjoyable long-term health with peer-reviewed science.
We talk about:
- What sugar is
- What types there are
- How your body processes it
- How sugar in whole foods is different
- If refined sugar is bad for you
- If sugar makes you fat
- How sugar doesn't cause diabetes
- How to make it a healthy part of your diet
