Since 1997 Lisa has run in over 130 ultra-marathons, totaling over 70,000km in racing and training or two and half times around the world. It’s safe to say that Lisa Tamati is New Zealand’s most accomplished and prolific ultra-runner, if not one of the best in the world. Running the 135-mile Badwater race in death valley twice, running the length of New Zealand and 222km through the Himalayas, the list goes on and on. In this episode, Lisa shares her story of a life of experiences which built her to be a human who could not only tolerate but thrive under intense pain and challenge. We discuss the good and bad parts of what it takes to achieve such intense goals. But like every Kiw,i Lisa is a genuine, good-hearted being and that’s what I loved most about this conversation and her stories. If you aren’t already yet you will be inspired by this conversation and learn how you can apply resilience in your own life take on your version of an ultra.
