In this episode, Leah Rosenthal will focus on Rabbi Eliezer ben Horkanus – A contemporary of Rabbi Elazar ben Arach, Rabbi Eliezer is described as a “plastered water cistern, that never loses a drop”. As such, he appears to represent the conservative, unchanging voice of tradition. How does his story unfold in Rabbinic literature? How is he presented and what role does he play in the development of Talmudic tradition?
