The Persian period appears to be the ‘black hole’ of Jewish History, abounding with conflicting narratives, textual discontinuities and chronological inconsistency. It is also the context of formation for a Jewish identity which can stand the test of time. In this class we will explore the fruitful conflicts between the traditional and critical narratives and ask how they can enrich our own identity. This session was given by Rabbi Mike Feuer as part of the Pardes Executive Learning Seminar, Summer 2017. |
