Global telecom giant Huawei continues to grow their substantial networking footprint by pushing into the enterprise and data center spaces with competitive products. In this podcast, Ian Foo, Director for Data Center Products & Solutions Enterprise Global Marketing at Huawei, joins co-hosts Ethan Banks and Greg Ferro in a discussion focused on Huawei’s CloudEngine switches and CloudFabric data center architecture.
The CloudEngine (CE) switch line contains chassis & fixed configuration switches able to move terabits of traffic. These are data center class switches with a non-blocking architecture, TRILL capability, and a host of other features. These CE switches along with the S series of enterprise switches mean that Huawei has a full line of Ethernet products that many folks don’t know a thing about. But it’s a look worth taking. Huawei’s switching product line is competitive and technically compelling. In addition, many of the engineering folks at Huawei are working in the IETF to help develop the standards that impact the entire industry.

In our discussion with Ian, we take a high level look at what Huawei has to offer to data centers and enterprises, hitting the following high level points.
- An overview of Huawei. Who are these guys?
- Huawei s data center portfolio. The CloudEngine platforms.
- The CloudFabric data center architecture. What does a data center design look like to Huawei?
- Huawei s data center SDN strategy & solution. Yes, Huawei does software defined as well.
