This week on Packet Pushers we talk with VMware NSX customers in a multi-segment show. These are real-life networkers who ve implemented NSX in their production environments, and have stories to tell. This show is sponsored by VMware.
The big idea here is to take SDN use cases we ve talked about before on the show — network virtualization and microsegmentation, for example — and then get a handle on how these are being used in real life to solve business problems.
Note that you don t have to be a huge company with thousands of servers to derive value from NSX. There s an NSX use case no matter what size you are.
In the first segment, we re going to hear from Iain Leiter, a network engineer at A.T. Still University. He needed to upgrade firewalls to segment an academic network from a clinical network, and wanted the flexibility of virtual firewalling rather than deploying physical devices.
In the second segment, we ll chat with Jason Kaduk and Terry Chatman, both with the Vallejo Sanitation and Flood Control District. This two-person IT team supports more than 80 users and runs a highly virtualized environment. They brought in NSX to reduce network complexity and to separate the IT network from the industrial control network.
