Description:

For the last 25 years or more, network operators have used SNMP polling and screen-scraping to extract data from the network.

But polling and scraping aren t very good for near real-time environments, which many IT shops are heading toward. Keeping up as close to real-time as possible with network events means you have a chance to get out in front of a problem before it is impactful.

However, when you consider the volume of data generated by modern networks, that analysis is hard to do.

That said, the challenge is being met. Hyperscale Web providers use systems to enhance network visibility in two ways. First, they are able to get results in near real-time. Second, the information they collect is highly granular.

So what does that look like? Our sponsor today is Cisco Systems, and they have some answers from the world of model-driven telemetry.

Our guests are Victor Osipchuk, Technical Marketing Engineer; and Arun Satyanarayana, Principal Engineer, both with Cisco.
