Broadcom Open Switch APIs Drive Innovation in Network Infrastructure

Broadcom Open Switch APIs Drive Innovation in Network Infrastructure | Broadcom

Broadcom doesn t want to sell switches to Cisco, it wants to sell switches to everyone. Not stuck in a monopsony. Cisco stills wants to make its own silicon and prevents Broadcom/Cavium/intel from expanding in this market.

Juniper Innovation Showcase Event Review – Main Points

Juniper planted their flag firmly on routing, switching, and security. They made a big deal about custom silicon as well. Another keyword was automation.  They added a spine switch, the QFX10000, which fills in the pesky hole that QFabric never properly filled. In the security space, Juniper wants to secure the network, traffic flowing through the network at any point was the impression they left. They don t want to own your entire security infrastructure, just focus on what they are good at. Northstar controller for SPs was discussed. Notably, Juniper is not interested in Northstar integration with ODL. But someone could integrate the two, as the APIs are open.
