Take a Network Break! This week we discuss a new series of data center switches from Plexxi, and analyze Cisco’s MaintenanceNet acquisition and the latest development in its legal battle with Arista Networks.
In open networking news, the CloudRouter project adds OpenDaylight’s Lithium release, and Google joins OpenStack (it’s all about Kubernetes). On the cloud front, Greg argues that Azure price hikes in Europe will lead to other providers raising prices.
We parse the Intel’s second quarter revenues (the company still relies on a shrinking client computing unit for the bulk of its revenue, but data center and IoT units see growth), and spend two seconds on a data center facilities spending report. Finally, we join the rallying cry for the death of Flash (the browser plugin, not the super hero). You can find links to all the stories we covered below.

Flash Outcry Grows Louder
Flash. Must. Die. – Wired
This week, in the wake of newly discovered vulnerabilities in Flash, Facebook security boss Alex Stamos called for a termination date for Flash, and late Monday night Mozilla disabled all current versions of the plug-in by default in its Firefox browser. Even Google is limiting Flash s impact; last month, it announced that future versions of Chrome will intelligently pause Flash-based content that isn t part of a website s core experience (e.g. video ads).
