Most would consider that an insult, but not Mark Sargent. The Whidbey Island resident spends much of his time promoting the belief that the earth is not round or spherical but actually, definitely flat. He’s not joking. And he claims that there is plenty of proof out there to prove him right. That is why Sargent created Flat Earth Clues, a series of Youtube videos that have garnered hundreds of thousands of views. Despite wide agreement that this theory was debunked sometime around the 3rd century BC, Sargent feels there is a growing movement in America and abroad that can’t let go of a flat earth. In this midweek installment of Sound Effect's podcast, contributing producer Shane Mehling and host Gabriel Spitzer discuss how this story came to be, and how they navigated the dilemmas of producing it.
