In the dance halls and record shops, soul music from Motown and Memphis was leading a quiet invasion of the northern part of England. The greats and not so well known singers here at home saw a resurgence in their careers in this most unlikely of places. Englandâ??s young and young at heart dubbed it Northern Soul.
