The former Vatican ambassador to Washington, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, has issued an 7,000 word letter in which he alleges a cover-up in which Pope Francis rehabilitated US Cardinal Theodore McCarrick who was found to have sexually abused trainee priests. Archbishop Viganò has called on the Pope to resign.
Also in the programme: The American playwright and screenplay-writer Neil Simon has died at the age of 91; and a mass shooting at a videogame tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.
