Fred Miller, “NO SWEAT Public Speaking!”
Here’s a great way to hold your audience’s attention throughout your presentation.
Start with a DISCLAIMER.
Here’s one of mine:
“We’re going to talk about Elevator Speeches and I’m going to show you my way.
It works really, really well for me and lots of people I’ve trained.
But quite honestly, there are others who do it differently.
Some do it way differently, and it works really well for them.
My suggestion is to be a sponge.
Absorb everything.
Squeeze out what you don’t need, and then do it your own way.
Here’s what you’re going to find.
People are going to appreciate that honesty of you not saying,
“My way or the highway,”
Because sometimes, if you say something from the get-go and they don’t believe it, they’ll tune you out for the whole presentation.
That really gives you credibility!
Start your presentation with a DISCLAIMER and I guarantee it will be absolutely, positively –
NO SWEAT!
