Michelle Dammon Loyalka discusses her book Eating Bitterness: Stories from the Front Lines of China’s Great Urban Migration, including labor, migration and urbanization in China;  the triumphs and tribulations of migrants; and how issues facing this class of people may constitute China’s most pressing domestic challenge.

 Journalist Michelle Dammon Loyalka’s work has been awarded an Overseas Press Club scholarship and the O.O. McIntyre Fellowship, and includes a six-year daily feature section for Business Week Online from China and freelance work for the New York Times and other publications.
