Taste of the Week

September 2, 2025

Welcome to… Taste of the Week!

Do we still wear white after Labor Day?

We’re not sure, but we are eating our way through the long weekend in Music City!

This week at Heritage Radio Network, we’re launching a brand-new podcast for our cookbook lovers and celebrating with plenty of food, flavor, and Southern hospitality.

Come see what’s cooking at HRN—because the future of food starts with a story!

Introducing:

Salt + Spine

One Bite is Everything

Ever wondered how your favorite cookbooks come to life? Salt + Spine pulls back the curtain on the inspirations, challenges, and creative journeys that shape these beloved titles!

Hosted by Brian Hogan Stewart—once an aspiring chef, now a journalist and devoted cookbook collector, the podcast shares the stories behind cookbooks from James Beard Award winners like Sohla El-Waylly to international bestsellers such as Toni Tipton-Martin and David Lebovitz.

Beyond the mic, Stewart co-founded Cookbook Fest in 2024, a Napa Valley celebration of the art and craft of cookbooks.

This week, he sits down with Makenna Held, cookbook author and entrepreneur who not only bought La Pitchoune, Julia Child’s former summer home in Provence, but also transformed it into the foundation for a bold, recipe-free philosophy of cooking.

Together, they explore what it means to honor legacy while forging your own path, embracing imperfection, and rediscovering confidence, intuition, and joy in the kitchen.

Our Summer Vacation Continues —

Tennessee

Pack your cowboy boots and favorite pair of Levi’s, we’re heading to Music City in the heart of Tennessee.

Our guide, Helen Hollyman links up with chef and restaurateur Robbie Wilson, the mind behind Nashville’s Tavern, Whiskey Kitchen, Kayne Prime, and Virago.

U Look Hungry
This week on U Look Hungry, we’re featuring Episode 36: Robbie Wilson and Nashville Food.

Wilson shares insights into his restaurants and Nashville’s blooming culinary scene.

Together, he and Hollyman dig into what “local food” really means in Nashville, the tradition of Southern hospitality, and the importance of seasonal cooking!

It’s a fresh reminder that Nashville’s legacy goes far beyond country music

Brie Ready: It’s Vermont Cheese Week!

From September 6–13, the Green Mountain State turns into a cheese lover’s paradise.

Think farm tours, tastings, classes, perfect pairings, and plenty of ooey-gooey moments that connect you to the land, the animals, and the cheesemakers behind it all.

This delicious week is hosted by our friends at the Vermont Cheese Council, amazing supporters who believe in the power of food storytelling.

The future of food starts with a story. At Heritage Radio Network, that story begins with celebrating the farmers whose care and hard work nourish our bodies and inspire our reporting.

Before pumpkin spice takes over, enjoy the final bites of summer and tell us which local cheesemakers that make your heart (and cheese board) melt!
