Taste of the Week

August 5, 2025

Welcome to… Taste of the Week!

This week at Heritage Radio Network, we’re serving up a brand-new show to pair with your morning coffee.

And our vacation? It’s still going strong, this time on a continent known for more than just wildlife and cultural heritage. (Hint: bring your wine glass.)

Come see what’s cooking at HRN, because the future of food starts with a story!

Introducing:

Food FM: Bread & Butter with Caroline Kenyon

FOOD FM From Stephanie to Chefanie

Food is at the heart of everything Caroline Kenyon does.

A serial entrepreneur, Caroline spent a decade running one of the UK’s leading PR and events agencies for British produce, Kenyon Communications.

She went on to found The Food Awards Company, celebrating food on a global scale including launching the World Food Photography Awards.

In 2020, she co-founded our new partner, FoodFM, a platform dedicated to the best in food and drink audio.

On Bread & Butter, Caroline and her guests make sense of the world through food, from politics to farming, making and cooking.

In the latest episode, A Journey in Food from Iraq to London, Caroline speaks to writer Samantha Ellis about her new book, Chopping Onions on my Heart  which tells of her rich Iraqi Jewish culinary heritage and introducing her young son to his family background through food.

Our Summer Vacation Continues —
Third Stop: Cape Town

We’re bidding farewell to Europe and flying south to the vibrant heart of South Africa.

After a long flight, there’s only one way to settle in: a wine tour, of course!

Our guide, Yorm Ackuaku takes us to the stunning Cape Winelands with the first black female winemaker in South Africa, Ntsiki Biyela.

This week, we’re featuring Episode 23: South African Winemaking with Ntsiki Biyela of Item 13: An African Food Podcast.

Named from Ghanaian slang, “Item 13” where the best part of the meeting aka food was typically listed as the 13th item on the agenda.

From chefs and bloggers to tastemakers and entrepreneurs, Yorm Ackuaku brings fresh flavor from the continent’s culinary scene to your ears.

In this episode, Biyela shares her inspiring journey from working as a domestic worker to launching her own label, Aslina Wines! Now a consultant and board member of the Pinotage Youth Development Academy, Biyela is not only crafting exceptional wines, but paving the way for the next generation of winemakers.

Pour yourself a glass… Don’t worry, it stays between us. Besides, you know what they say; it’s 5pm somewhere
