Taste of the Week

July 8, 2025

Welcome to… Taste of the Week!

This week at Heritage Radio Network, we’re keeping it short, sweet, and sizzling!

Happy 4th of July! Fireworks. Hot dogs. Backyard BBQs — we’re here for all of it. But that’s not the only reason we’re celebrating —The Speakeasy just hit its 600th episode! With only 1% of podcasts making it past episode 20, that’s definitely something worth toasting!

Now kick back, crack open something cold, and see what’s cooking—because at HRN, the future of food always starts with a story.

Cheers to 600 episodes of

The Speakeasy

Speakeasy Logo

After fourteen years and plenty of pours, The Speakeasy is still your boozy bestie behind the mic!

Hosts Damon Boelte, Sother Teague, and Greg Benson have served up 600 episodes of spirited banter with bartenders, brewers, distillers, roasters, and drinkers of all stripes.

For their milestone episode, the trio records live from Fort Hamilton Distillery during BCB 2025 for a rye-fueled conversation on NYC bartending’s glow-up, the state of microdistilling, and the American whiskey revival. They’re joined by Fort Hamilton founder Alex Clark—bartender-turned-distiller.

Want to watch instead of listen? Catch the full episode on their YouTube channel!

From rye to rum, tea to tiki, The Speakeasy continues to celebrate the people, stories, and sips that shape our drinking culture. Here’s to the next 600—preferably with a cocktail in hand and a mic close by!

This week, we are featuring Episode 99,“Dan Lyle”

On this episode of  The Speakeasy,  Host Damon Boelte is joined by Dan Lyle, owner of The Shop in Brooklyn, to  celebrate America’s birthday and reflect on the communal spirit of the 4th of July and its roots in the labor traditions of the 1800s.

Tune in to explore the deep ties between food and community, the legacy of shared meals, and how independence is often best celebrated around a table with family and friends
