“As a dietitian who works in the media I sometimes get the opportunity to work with brands that are in alignment with my values. This past month I kicked off the year speaking engagements by being on a panel for Siete Foods, discussing tips for providing culturally inclusive care. This was a great preparation for my upcoming presentation on Reclaiming Cultural Foods this April for the Texas Academy Annual Conference & Exhibition. By being part of the fellowship I’m sure you can assume I love to talk and take the opportunity to do so whenever I can, especially if it spreads the word of keeping cultural foods on our plates!”
Monthly Org Update
Book Club: Our Meat + Three team will be reading My Soul Looks Back by Dr. Jessica B. Harris for February. This is a beautiful memoir of Dr. Harris’ life in NYC in the 1970s and her friendships with prolific black writers such as James Baldwin and Toni Morrison.
