This morning, as Hurricane Florence inches closer to the eastern seaboard of the United States, new documents released by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) to 'The Rachel Maddow Show,' last night, indicate that the Trump Administration transferred more than $9.5 million away from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and into his efforts to bolster Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The bombshell figure from Sen. Merkley comes alongside a few other, tertiary bombshell reports: First, according to new reporting from The Hill, the federal deficit is set to soar 32% to $895 billion, and will hit $1 trillion by the end of the fiscal year due, in part, to increased budgetary spending and the now-infamous GOP tax initiative. And, second, legendary, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Bob Woodward has released his latest book, 'Fear: Trump in the White House.' The publication, over the past week, has been drawing ire and denials from numerous White House officials stemming from Mr. Woodward's reporting. Bob Woodward joins the panel, this morning, for an hour-long, in-depth discussion on just how chaotic, and candid, the Trump White House has become. In addition, former Independent Counsel and author Ken Starr joins Joe and Mika to give his unique perspective on Robert Mueller's investigation, and the similarities to his investigation into the Clinton scandal. Starr is also the author of the now-available memoir, "Contempt: A Memoir of the Clinton Investigation." And, host of MSNBC's 'Hardball' Chris Matthews sits down with us in New York to give his insight on the highly-competitive Senate midterm races -- which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has gone so far as to describe as a "knife fight in an alley way." He'll break down President Trump's latest approval ratings in the wake of his lackluster tribute to 9/11 first responders and victims. It's Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe. |
