On the 17th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in American history, taking almost 3,000 lives and leaving countless other first responders suffering from debris-related ailments, President Trump is up and tweeting about collusion between the Clinton campaign and the Department of Justice. The President then retweeted a picture of himself, sitting in the Oval Office, signing a proclamation marking today as "Patriot Day 2018," before continuing tweeting about former FBI Agent Peter Strzok and former Attorney General Eric Holder. Today also brings new polling from CNN showing that the President's approval rating remains in the mid-30's, with three other polls from last week also placing him between 36% and 37% approval. A new Quinnipiac University poll was also released, showing that only 32% of voters polled believe that the President is honest with them. The dip in voter trustworthiness comes as one of the President's tweets on the state of the economy is being clarified by the White House, saying that the figures described by President Trump were incorrect. In the tweet, President Trump said that the GDP rate, of 4.2%, was higher than the rate of unemployment, which is now at 3.9%. This figure is correct. However, the President went on to allege that this is the first time in 100 years that the GDP rate has surpassed the unemployment rate. This statement was not correct. In fact, in 100 years, this has happened more than 60 times. Today, however, remains a day of remembrance. This morning, join Joe, Mika, Willie, and a plethora of panel guests as they take a look back on the day that rewrote modern American history and how its effects can still be felt today. It's Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe. |
